Dual Compressor Technology – Protection for the Unexpected
Traditional ultra-low freezers rely on a single compressor system. If this system fails, the freezer and your samples are out of luck. Liquid nitrogen or carbon dioxide backups only sustain temperatures for approximately 7 hours, and require routine re-filling. With Twin Guard® Ultra-Low freezers a second, independent compressor system is housed within the interior of the freezer. The two compressors work together in normal mode, but if one fails the other can maintain ultra-low temperatures for an extended period of time. The Panasonic designed Cool Safe refrigeration compressors feature innovative refrigerant feedback processes to reduce inner temperature, thereby extending compressor life and minimizing heat output.
Superior Temperature Uniformity for Long-Term Storage
The Panasonic Twin Guard Series satisfies an industry demand for safe, long-term storage for the most high-valued materials. The dual independent refrigeration systems, combined with optional liquid nitrogen or liquid CO2 back-up systems, offer a circle of protection unmatched in the marketplace. The technology avoids conventional cascade refrigeration technology by using two completely independent compressor, autocascade cooling systems, each capable of maintaining ultra-low temperatures. Either circuit will maintain -65°C. In the unlikely event of a compressor failure in one system, the remaining system will automatically maintain a minimum of -65°C for an indefinite period. The evaporator coils embedded in the patented, high-tech, VIP Plus vacuum-insulated thin-wall cabinet are strategically oriented to deliver the best temperature uniformity at all shelf levels. In the event of a facility power failure, with optional carbon dioxide and liquid nitrogen back-up systems installed, the freezer will maintain -65°C storage temperature for up to 8 hours.
Energy Efficient Design Inside and Out
Energy Saving ECO-Mode: The Panasonic Twin Guard Ultra-Low Freezer can be set for Normal or EcoMode operation, depending on ambient temperature and load. EcoMode is recommended for 90-95% of applications. Although both refrigeration systems are completely independent, EcoMode uses the unique dual compressor system to establish an overlapping cycle to significantly reduce energy consumption while optimizing interior uniformity from top-to-bottom and front-to-back for protection of high value materials. The overlapping system maintains temperatures at -86°C and reduces energy consumption by as much as 15% while maintaining superior temperature uniformity. Furthermore, Twin Guard® Series freezers offer large storage capacity with a minimal footprint. Combined with the energy efficiency of each unit, you’ll be utilizing significantly less power per box stored.
